Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Ellison Lor. I was born in Stockton, California, and I currently reside in beautiful Denver, North Carolina. As a proud Hmong American, I carry a rich heritage from Southeast Asia. The Hmong people, while lacking a specific homeland, have a vibrant culture, and my family's roots trace back to the mountainous regions of Laos.

My parents faced incredible challenges during the Vietnam War. My father became a soldier at just 13, bravely fighting alongside the American CIA and helping many find refuge in Thailand. Tragically, my mother was orphaned young when her father stepped on a landmine and her mother succumbed to illness due to lack of medical care.

When my parents arrived in the United States as refugees, they had little more than the clothes on their backs and settled in Stockton, California. I grew up in a two-bedroom duplex with eight siblings. Our neighborhood was plagued by gang violence, and the idea of college felt distant, with job opportunities being few and far between. At 13, my parents made a pivotal decision to relocate to Hickory, NC, in search of a safer environment and better job prospects. Shortly after our move, my mother fell gravely ill and passed away. My father's life insurance was inadequate, and we were only able to afford her burial thanks to the generosity of our community and a small rider on his work life insurance policy.

As the oldest son, I stepped up to help my father with bills at just 14. Balancing two jobs while attending Hickory High School and later Lenoir-Rhyne University, I earned dual degrees in Business Management and Finance.

I have dedicated over 18 years to the insurance industry, with 16 of those years at State Farm. I don’t see myself as a salesman; rather, I view my role as a protector—someone committed to ensuring that families like mine don’t face the same hardships I endured.

I'm fortunate to work alongside my wonderful wife of over 15 years, Judy. We are proud parents to three amazing children: August, who is 12; Temperance, who is 10; and our lively little boy, Ellison Jr., who is just 2 years old.

In my spare time, I love fishing, hunting, and passionately following football. I also enjoy playing the drums for the worship band at my church.

Our office, located in the Statesville area, will celebrate its 8th anniversary in January 2026. We proudly serve people throughout North Carolina and South Carolina, and I have the flexibility to meet people wherever they are. My amazing team is multilingual, speaking English, Hmong, and Spanish, and we set ourselves apart by dedicating more than 15 minutes to each person to ensure we create the right insurance plan for their needs.
